The
Computer Literacy Program
for New
Beginning
is geared to assist the families with gaining basic computer
knowledge and using it in their own homes. Computer literacy
is more important now than it has ever before, so we offer this
program to communities across the United States. We
will accomplish this goal by offering short evening courses on
basic PC skills, business productivity software, Internet, and
e-mail in which at least one member of the family must attend.
PCs are provided via donations from businesses and individuals
or purchased from surplus agencies and refurbished. Upon completion
of the training, the family will get to keep the computer
that they used in the training course.
This is an incentive for the family to complete the course
and be able to apply their newly acquired skills immediately.
Additionally, New Beginning recognizes that some members
of the community may wish to complete courses towards a GED. With
the assistance of area community colleges, the Computer
Literacy Program will provide those that did not finish high
school with the opportunity to take GED classes via the Internet.
