The
Community Outreach Program
was created to give support to the entire community. Our
goal is to create a circle of interaction between child, adolescent,
adult, and senior citizen. Through ongoing services, long-term
projects, and recurring events, the Community Outreach Program
is comprised of multiple services and activities that will help
the community in numerous ways. In return, we require that the
individuals/families that we assist volunteer time with our
organization to give back to the community.
The administrators of
New
Beginning
will determine the amount of community service hours that are
to be served.
Emergency
Utilities Assistance
The
Emergency Utilities Assistance
service is to aid at-risk families (particularly families with
several children or elderly individuals) with making one-time
only utility payments.
These households must have had a recent event (such as
unemployment, disablement, sickness, or death of wage earner)
that has put them in a serious financial bind.
Utility bills that can be paid include electricity, natural
gas, water/sewage, or telephone.
This service pays the minimum amount to keep the utility
on until the next month, and recipients are enrolled in other
New Beginning
programs and services in order to assist them further during
this time.
Adopt-A-Senior
This program was created to benefit both the youth and the elderly
by having them interact with one another. It is a fact that
most senior citizens have been forgotten in many communities,
and with this in mind, the youth in the community will go visit
the elderly at both private residences and rest homes. The youth
will perform tasks that the elderly may be unable to perform
any longer (i.e. a child who is under this program may go out
and cut the grass of an elderly person that is not able to perform
this tasks due to health reasons. New Beginning
will provide financial support
for the services of the youth. This gives the youth a good understanding
of work, and it teaches them to appreciate the value of currency.
New Beginning has made it a requirement that
youth will support the community that supports it.
Holiday
Toy Drive
The Holiday Toy Drive
provides families in need with gifts for their children.
New Beginning solicits monetary and in-kind
toy donations from individuals and businesses.
Similar to the Thanksgiving
Dinner Challenge, families in need are identified via different
resources, including Social Services, school counselors, and
other agencies and non-profit organizations.
Clothing
& Toy Distribution
This program gathers donations from individuals and businesses
for distribution to families in need and for child care providers
that serve low-income and/or at-risk children.
Donations include new and gently used clothing, toys,
furniture, games, movie videos, etc. |
